I have a degree in English, a PGCE in English Language and Literature teaching for high schools in England, and a TESOL. In addition, I am doing an MA in English Education at University College London.
I have taught EAL for many years in Indonesia and Malta. I taught all students from all levels and ages with exam preparation for TOEFL, Cambridge First, and IELTS to both group classes and individual tutoring. In addition, I have experience teaching The British Curriculum up to the GCSE level and coaching students to pass the 11+, 13+, 14+, and 16+ entrance exams for prestigious and competitive private schools in England. Recently, I have gained over two years of experience tutoring online. Also, I have started to teach Home Educated students the AQA English Literature GCSE paper and Edexcel IGCSE paper.
My approach to teaching depends on the learner and the objective. However, I generally have an inquiry-based approach to education whereby the learner can investigate through questioning and being active in discussions. This approach builds confidence and a personal understanding of a teaching point. Also, I enjoy project-based teaching as learners engage in explorative learning by addressing real-life problems. Thus, acquiring a deeper understanding of potential challenges.
